TEHRAN – Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Wednesday night that negotiations between Iran and the United States will begin in Muscat, Oman, on Friday morning.

“Nuclear talks with the United States are scheduled to be held in Muscat at about 10 o’clock in the morning,” Araghchi wrote in English on X.

The Iranian foreign minister also thanked Oman for arranging the talks, saying, “I am grateful to our Omani brothers for making all necessary arrangements.”

Araghchi made the announcement after reports emerged that talks between Iran and the U.S. had been canceled.

Quoting Iranian sources, Al Mayadeen TV said late on Wednesday that the talks had been rescinded due to new conditions set by the American side and differences over the subject of the negotiations, and not the venue of the talks.

Earlier, the Mehr news agency had quoted informed Iranian sources as saying the Islamic Republic will not compromise on its missile capability. Al Mayadeen had also cited Iranian sources as saying Tehran will not allow any subject outside the nuclear issue to be raised.
